Just got word from the boss that I'll (most probably) be around for another year. So, all of you who haven't visited me yet: you have no excuse now. Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring -- it's all fun.

Random picture update

Just said adios to the Parents, who were in town for nearly three weeks, so I hope I am forgiven for the total lack of updates of late. I will attempt to rectify the situation, post haste. As mentioned earlier, I have had a string of visitors and a series of minor adventures in the last few weeks (even before my parents arrived) and I have thus accumulated a small pile of mildly amusing photos which I thought suitable for publication online. None of these were really worthy of a whole post on their own, but collectively I hope they at least inspire a few smiles. Fig. 1: French Championship of Tarot Card Reading, in beautiful Evian. Presumably, you are given a group of people, one of whom is about to die, one who is about to meet the man of her dreams, etc., and it is your job to figure out who is who. Inner City Pressure

Well, it only took two and a half months, but I have finally moved into a quasi-permanent apartment. With a little help from Serge and his car, and a few fully-encumbered hikes across town, I have cast off my tiny, ugly, smelly studio for a much larger, less ugly, and significantly better smelling apartment on the other side of Lausanne. Last night was my first night in the new apartment, so I am still getting to know the place, but I figured I ought to post something before people start boycotting my blog in protest. First, the good: The apartment nice, clean, and spacious. The bathroom is clean, has a full shower, and nice fixtures. The kitchen has a full-sized oven, four-burner stove, and plenty of cabinets. The bedroom is large, has it's own radiator, and has a wooden floor. The building looks really high-class on the inside and looks well-maintained. I have a cellar the size of a basketball court. You say it's your birthday!

As many of you know, November 11th is important for three unrelated reasons.  First, it was the day that the armistice marking the end of WWI was signed (hence its original name, Armistice Day) which ultimately became Veterans' Day; Second, it is the birthday of Kurt Vonnegut; and most importantly of all, it is the birthday of Terrie Sue Crabtree Sangiorgio, my Mom. As I am again unable to celebrate the event in person, I am compelled to send my birthday wishes electronically.  Happy Birthday Mom!  (Click here!!) Fig. 1: Mumsie and I P.S.
